Seashell Information

We buy seashells and dried starfish from the two most reputable shell suppliers in the UK and are
probably now their biggest clients. All our seashells for sale come with ecological certification
and are sustainable. Scroll through our listings and it won't take you long to realise that most of
these products have been partially eaten first. And that's the way we want to keep it. Our best selling
starfish are washed ashore and our children understand the importance of preservation as well as we
do. Charitable donations through our shops are weighted towards the RNLI and marine conservation.
We only sell online a small proportion of the seashells we sell in our shops, so if we're too far

Sugar Starfish 4 to

We have just received some beautiful dried sugar starfish
all the way from South America where these orangey brown “sea stars” can be found washed
up on the beach. These are very popular but relatively hard to source here in the UK. Their granular
texture which gives the appearance (but certainly not the taste) of sugar is the reason for their name.
Another big seller for nautical weddings and interior designers looking for coastal style. If you require

We do have some lovely starfish in right now, red/pink
pointers, tiger starfish, knobbly starfish and even longspine starfish but these are probably the prettiest
for individual nautically inspired decor and have an incredible texture likened to sugar and hence their

Longspine Starfish

Our longspine starfish are a neutral brown in colour and
are much larger in depth than our pointer starfish. These really are quite unusual and you don't need
as many of these to create a display feauture due to their size. Colours may of course vary. Please

Our pointer starfish can be purchased if required in an assortment of colours. We often
use these as part of our window display and most bulk purchases are for nautical or shell themed weddings.

Knobbly Starfish -

Of all the starfish we sell these are the ones that our
customers pick up, look at, feel the texture of and talk to one another about. Personally, we prefer
the tigers and the pointers but there's something about knobbly star fish that captures the imagination
of the public and it's probably not just the name! Yep, they have knobbles and are a rustic ocean like
colour - they've got the octopus in them we suppose. Defintely an interesting and beautiful sea creature
but be quick as stock often runs low.

Small Flat Starfish

These delicate small flat starfish measure 2 to 3 inches
in diameter and are, as the description suggests, virtually flat. Consequently they are often used for
shell craft work. We recently had a customer building and designing a shell house who used these in
a frieze all the way along one wall, and they looked great. Another good use is of course wedding decorations
or for nautically themed dinner parties. In our shop, children will pick one of these up to buy for
home or a small present. Lots of uses, no excuses.

Flat White Pointer

A much smaller and flatter starfish but popular for craft
ideas or just a cute little present for friends. They measure 5 to 7 centimetres and are virtually flat.
We have talented craftspeople making picture frames and mirrors with these. They look pretty scattered
in amongst larger starfish in a shell decoration themed home too which we sell on our shell
page.
